Hello,

Therapy becomes political the moment my client’s survival is on the line.
I stand ten toes down on this -
We shouldn’t have to live in fight, flight or freeze on the daily. Our brain and bodies are not meant for long-term 10/10 anxiety on the daily. Other mental health issues become more prominent, problematic and traumatic.
Knowing that a significant amount of people lack the humanity to truly put themselves in others’ shoes - sucks. I’m sure you can insert your own choice of word(s) besides that one. Reasonably so.
Most of us get into this helping field to obviously help others… but we come out on the other end to realize - part of us becomes healed enough to truly hold space for you, and with you.
When I talk about “healed enough” we should all be constantly working on improving our understanding of self, others, and the world around us.
AND YES, I AM IN THERAPY. We all should be, and it should all be accessible, with zero stigma, and honestly - free.
I do swear, I am political.
So, about me...
My therapist - about 10-15 years ago gave me the courage, strength, and the compassion for myself after 2 back-to-back psychiatric hospitalizations. It was a truly dark time for me, as I’m sure most of you can relate on some level (others’ shoes, right?). I then took 15 years of my life… back-to-back, of educational pursuit to get to this space.
Approximately, 6 months out of graduate school and collecting my hours for licensure… COVID decided to be a thing, and somehow political? That was a dark time for a lot of people, and we all know someone - in some way - connected to a passing.
I am an Associate MFT, preparing for an upcoming clinical exam. So at this time, I am not practicing - but rather studying my ass off. However - decided - with another therapist to put at least the educational background into support groups as a Thread Keeper. Someone to provide the non-clinical aspects, psychoeducation, care and hope needed to move through this world.

Both Kim and I are working hard to put things together to support people - the best way we know how - in this messed up, weird ass timeline.

I do have a waitlist available for prospective clients interested in therapy. However, I do have to pass my clinical, and become licensed, not just an associate. I have previously practiced as an associate, and do have all the necessary criteria to sit for my clinical exam.

I do have an AMFT license number (157959) with the BBS of California. Again, not actively in a therapist capacity/role.
